From its second album onwards, the band's style hasn't changed much: an efficient, technical, and brutal mix of death metal, hardcore, and grindcore (actually, I've never understood the latter tag, as there's not much grindcore about DF, other than sheer aggression. I don't understand those who say that the band has fallen off, or that some of its albums are so much better than others. War of Attrition is a fine death metal album and a great addition to Dying Fetus' legacy. However, I'm pleased to report that I don't have to compromise what little journalistic integrity I have left. The opening riffs of "Praise the Lord (Opium of the Masses)," from Dying Fetus' Destroy the Opposition, begin many a Metal Injection program. When you review the band responsible for your employer's theme song, your hands are a little tied.
